Dear POPAI Members:

HEA 1006 (of 2015) established the Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council (JRAC).  One of the purposes of JRAC is to “make recommendations and provide feedback to the department of correction and the division of mental health and addiction concerning grants to be awarded.”

I serve as POPAI’s voting representative on the JRAC.  The council met yesterday to make final recommendations for the Community Corrections grants for FY 2016.  The funding recommendations for the $5 million grants are contained in the attached document.

JRAC Approved Recommendations 102015

These recommendations will be sent to the Department of Correction Commissioner Bruce Lemmon who will make the final grant award decisions.  We were advised that Commissioner Lemmon is out of the office until Monday October 26th.

Grant applicants will likely not receive official notice of the status of the grant applications until the 26th or soon after.  Applicants should also receive a copy of their grant scoring matrix which will be helpful when writing the next Community Corrections grants due January 31, 2016.

Please email or call me if you have any questions or comments.  Thanks.
