Retired Henry County Probation Officer Michael Cassidy

Michael-Cassidy-1447067693 Michael J. Cassidy, age 69, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Kindred Rehabilitation Center in Greenwood. He was born January 11, 1946 in New Castle, to the late Mitchell and Martha Elizabeth (Craig) Cassidy.

An ordained minister, he had pastored at Buck Creek Church of the Brethren for 14 years. He was also a Henry County Juvenile Probation Officer, retiring in 2012. Michael was a past president of New Castle Breakfast Optimist Club, was a deputy sheriff in the 1970’s and had served in the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a 1964 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School and of Indiana University in 1972. He served on the District Board for Church of the Brethren. Michael enjoyed duck hunting, running, music, reading, writing, bird watching, and enjoyed studying history.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Janet (Huffer) Cassidy; son, Ryan (Angela) Cassidy of Argos, IN; daughter, Leah (Nicholas) Borden of Goshen; four grandchildren, Estella, Anna, Eliott and Will; sister, Lisa (David) Ferguson of Yorktown; brother, Craig Patrick (Cecily) Cassidy of San Antonio, TX; several nieces and nephews..

He was preceded in death by his parents.
