Ruth G. White, 72, Covington, died Thursday in her residence.

Mrs. White was chief probation officer for Fountain County for 23 years before retiring in 1998. She was previously employed at Eli Lilly and RR Donnelly.

Her memberships included organist, pianist and board secretary for Covington United Methodist Church, Republican Party, Book Lovers Club, Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Psi Iota Xi, Covington?s Woman's Club and Weight Watchers. She was one of the founders of Covington Area Broadcasting, Inc. (currently broadcasting as KISS, 103.1 and KOOL, 92.9) and a charter member and officer of the Indiana High School Basketball Historical Society. She was a 1950 graduate of Roachdale High School.

She was born Nov. 26, 1932, at Champaign, Ill., to Frank Glick and Dwen Turner Glick. She married Don E. White May 15, 1955, at Roachdale. He is deceased.

Surviving are daughter Sharon (Chuck) Nosil, Wickenburg, Az.; sons Dale White, Covington, and Mark (Melissa) White, Indianapolis; and five grandchildren. One son, Gary, is deceased.

Funeral services are scheduled 10 a.m. Monday in Covington United Methodist Church with Dr. Oscar Mathura officiating. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services in the church.
