POPAI Board Meeting Minutes for 06/12/2024
Troy called the meeting to order at 9:30am.

Secretary's Report
Troy asked if everyone had an opportunity to review the May Secretary Report. Lindsey moved to accept the May Report. Mike seconded. All were in favor. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report
Andria provided the May Treasurer’s Report. As of May 31, 2024, the balance in checking was $97,142.16 and $17,739.08 in savings. Mike motioned to accept the March and Treasurer’s Report. Lindsey seconded. All were in favor. Motion carried.
Andria stated we have a $30,000 CD Investment in May. The best CD option available was an 8 month @ 4.65% Interest, maturity date 1-20-25. This will allow a comfortable balance entering the fall conference.
Quicken and the bank balance are the same.
We received notification of a penalty due to the previous filing of the 2022 taxes. The new accountant will be filing an appeal and contacting the IRS on Friday. Andria will keep us posted.
Budget was $15000 for corporate sponsor and have received above such. Great job to Karen and Anthony
Technology
Karen asked about putting a LinkedIn link from our Board page to each Board Member’s LinkedIn Profile. Discussion followed and the board did not want to move forward with such.
She reviewed the June and July calendar and produced a report to show the top May click performers of our Monday Morning Emails.
She stated the main priority over these next few months is to make sure accurate communication goes out to our membership regarding elections and the Fall Conference opportunities.
Membership
Our POPAI Population data on June 4, 2024: 1188 Total Current: 1030 Probation Officers; 23 Corporate Sponsors; 119 Associate Members (Community Corrections and Support); 16 Other
Karen explained the process for mid-year department invoicing and the new protocol for Corporate Sponsor Table registration to completely avoid nonpayment issues.
Lindsey ordered the Yeti Cups and then discussed the POPAI item to be provided at the fall conference. After discussion, the plan will be to order a power bank w/ the POPAI Logo for the fall conference attendees.
Education
2024 Fall Conference (Sept 4-6)- Anthony discussed the different proposals that have been submitted. We discussed offering Tall Cop as a full day on Wed and he will discuss with the presenter. Anthony explained we will offer 3 different events on Thur night (musical bingo, family feud, karaoke). Discussion followed regarding potential corporate sponsorship for any snacks/beverages at the event on Thur.
APPA Summer Institute (June) – Event night update- The attendee number is around 800. Troy reminded everyone APPA is offering free registration now.
Lindsey discussed the details of the event night. She asked any board members to let her know if they will be able to volunteer on Sunday.
2024 Joint Meeting with IACCAC (August 22nd) – no update
Training Coordinator for 2025 – Troy will discuss with Andria, Lindsey and Cherie
Probation Officer Advisory Board Update
Meeting dates – August 13 and Nov 12
Shannon stated it was a short meeting in May. They have the committee members determined.
Bob asked if the advisory board could discuss the ability to archive the criminal history section on a PSI.
Election
Bob stated we do not have any contested races At this time, we still have a few board positions in which he has not received an intent to run.
Karen will send a reminder about the Intent to Run.
Awards and Recognition
Bob stated Lindsey did a great job w/the presentation at the IOCS Conference.
Karen will post and advertise the awards that are presented at the fall conference (Founder’s, Line Officer of the Year, and Rookie Officer of the Year) in July.
Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council (JRAC)
June 28 will be the next meeting. Lindsey and Adam will attend and Lindsey will attend the new subcommittee meeting on June 17.
State JRAC – next July 12
Old Business
Salary Schedule – Troy sent all the information to the chiefs. Discussion followed.
DOC Funding Formula Committee – Andria stated a formula has been finalized by the committee and will now have further review/discussion within DOC before presentation to Commissioner.
New Business
Bob asked if there has been any information about our numbers for the fall conference. Thus far, we are only aware of one county that will not be present.
