POPAI Board Meeting Minutes for 08/14/2024

Troy called the meeting to order at 9:30am.

Secretary's Report

Troy asked if everyone had an opportunity to review the July Secretary’s Report.  Mike moved to accept the Secretary’s Report.  Lindsey seconded. All were in favor. Motion carried.

Treasurer's Report

Andria provided the July Treasurer’s Report. July balance in checking was $92,475.59 and in savings $17,739.21 Angela motioned to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Rupert seconded. All were in favor. Motion carried.

The appeal to the Dept of Revenue is still pending.

Technology

Karen described the onboarding process for new Board Members. She offered custom email address for forwarding to Board Members. Discussion followed and Troy will contact APPA to update email information.

She highlighted the calendar for the next 3 months and showed the Fall Conference pages outperformed even the job posts page on our website during the last 28 days. She detailed when the responsibilities of the current officers will be completed.

Membership

Membership statistics: 1197 Total Current: 1036 Probation Officers; 30 Corporate Sponsors; 138 Other. We talked about Membership Coordinator tasks during conferences.

We have reestablished a great relationship with a previous vendor.

Clothing – Lindsey discussed the items for sale at the conference. We will have a clearance table offered this year. Discussion followed.

Education

Fall Conference –Anthony stated we currently have 497 (426 officers) and have a license for 500 with Whova. We have 33 corporate members and are sold out w/ corporate members.

Break/Lunch food – He discussed the different options and we determined the items.

Shannon made a motion that the vendors can provide tickets for alcohol at the Thursday Fun Night. Rupert seconded. All were in favor. Motion carried.

IACCAC – joint meeting on August 22 (Law Enforcement – morning topic and Legislation – afternoon topic )

Training Coordinator Position Discussion – We discussed the posted article regarding the training coordinator and the job opening that has been posted.

Bob made a motion to close the position on Aug 22 at noon, eastern time, with notice going out to the membership in the Monday email. Jenny seconded. All were in favor. Motion carried.

Chief's Executive Committee

The next meeting will be the on Friday at the fall conference. This year we will have a separate room for our breakfast meeting.

Probation Officer Advisory Board Update

Supervision – Working on revisiting Intrastate Rules. PSI updates are also being reviewed.

Education – Safety and security. On demand slides. Orientation information.

Election

We do not have any contested elections

District 4 – NO CANDIDATES

District 6 – Albert Arnold

District 8 – Jennifer Lampert

At-Large 2 – Chad Boruff

District 4, District 5, and At-Large Seat 1 will be vacant as of September 6th

Awards and Recognition

Cherie and Bob have received the nominations for the various awards. They will discuss w/ the committee and have the recommendations. Discussion followed for ordered and picking up the plaques.

Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council (JRAC)

Lindsey stated the next meeting will be Sept 6.

Old Business

Indiana Chamber of Commerce Request – Cherie discussed the communication with Natalie Wenzler regarding the opportunity for training to 5 chiefs. Discussion followed. Karen will send the email, prepared by Natalie, to the POPAI CPOs next week.

New Business

TRECS – Adam stated their county participated in the tax intercept. Association of Indiana Counties and it was beneficial
