Indiana Probation and the AVA – earn a high school diploma, free for students

“Recently, Crawfordsville Schools launched the Athens Virtual Academy of Indiana (AVA) for middle and high school aged students.  After 18 years in traditional administration, I have been asked to direct the AVA – which I am truly excited about!  I have personally worked with at-risk students for the entirety of my career and have had much success in helping these students earn an Indiana high school diploma.  I have also had the privilege of working closely with our local probation department in finding creative solutions to assist teens earn high school credits.

We are actively looking to partner with probation departments around the state in order to help Indiana students earn their respective diplomas.  Indeed, we already have many at-risk/probation students enrolled in the AVA and recently partnered with Teen Challenge/Refuge Girls Academy in Lebanon.

We would love for you to consider recommending the AVA for any student you are (have/will) working with. Here is what the AVA has to offer:

  • No Cost: The AVA offers online classes and support without any cost to the student.
  • Flexible Learning Environment: Our online platform allows students to access course materials at their own pace and location.
  • Fast Track 3-year CORE-40 Diploma: Students will work closely with an AVA counselor to develop and implement the 3-year CORE-40 diploma.
  • Chromebook Distribution: All full-time students will be issued a Chromebook.
  • Accredited Curriculum: All courses are accredited by the state of Indiana.
  • Student Services Specialist: AVA students will have a student services counselor that will help with course selection, transcripts, and post-secondary educational opportunities.
  • Access to Live Teachers: Each AVA student will have daily direct access to a current licensed teacher for consultation and guidance.

Please don’t hesitate to share this email and flyer.  I am also available during the week for personal conversations if desired.”
