New Report and Upcoming Webinar
In June, the Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center published a new report, “Mind Matters: Building a Justice System That Is Inclusive and Responsive to Brain Injury.” This report includes input from All Rise’s Justice for Vets and synthesizes findings from a review of incidence of brain injury in the justice system, including interviews and focus groups. The report elevates key resources and best practices and provides recommendations for building an inclusive and responsive justice system.
Acquired Brain Injury Toolkit
All Rise’s Justice for Vets partnered with the National Association of State Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA) to develop a toolkit designed to help all treatment court types better identify, assess, treat, and support individuals with brain injury in their programs. “A Treatment Court Toolkit for Supporting Individuals With Acquired Brain Injury” contains the following:
- Background on research into current best practices related to brain injury
- Overview of brain injury and why it’s important in the context of treatment courts
- How to screen for a lifetime history of head trauma and current head trauma–related challenges
- Making accommodations for brain injury
