Secretary's Report
Linda asked if everyone had an opportunity to review the Executive Board Meeting minutes from April and if there are any additions, corrections, or comments? There being no changes – Adam makes a motion to accept. Cherie 2nd. All in favor. Motion carries.
Treasurer's Report
Linda reports that as of March 31, 2016 the amount in the savings account is $17,035.63 and in checking is $73,334.85. Susan made a recent deposit. Discussion on drafting a memo for Corporate Membership informing how those interested in joining make contact with POPAI. Cherie motions to accept the treasurers report. Brian 2nd. All in favor. Motion carries.
Technology
Adam reports that the POPAI website was recently hacked and has since been fixed. A POPAI member reported the hack to Linda, who contacted Karen. Within an hour of notification, Karen fixed what was needed and up to date back-ups put in place. At no time was a member’s private information viewed. The Knepple Scholarship Application is available online. The top 6 pages: Jobs, MRNISO Spring Conference, The Changing Relationship Between Ex-Criminals and Their Parole Officers, Events and Training, 2016 Minimum Salary Schedule for Probation Officers, Alcohol Monitoring: A Vital Part of Probation, and 15 Justice Semifinalists remain.
Membership
Susan indicates that the membership updates have been made in the database creating a recent deposit into the checking account. Some counties still have an outstanding balance for the year (for membership). Linda requests that a report be made at the May Board meeting of those counties. Current POPAI membership totals 930 (842 PO’s, 34 Corporate).Education
Susan has secured the Keynote speaker for the Fall POPAI Conference. She will get an education committee conference call established soon. The Management Institute has a decent number of attendees. There were 15 New Chief’s in attendance at the New Chief PO Summit. Discussion. It was suggested to look at training dates for 2017.
Chief's Executive Committee
Greg – no report. Will schedule a planning meeting this summer for 2017 Management Institute/ Chief’s Summit.
Juvenile Delinquency Alternative Initiative (JDAI) Update
Adam – no report. The expansion continues. There was a recent site visit in Santa Cruz. Sarah reaffirmed that the grant deadlines are April 14 (full grant) and May 5 (partial grant). Discussion.
Probation Officer Advisory Board Update
The next PO Advisory meeting is April 12, 2016. The 2016 PO Annual Meeting: From Angie Hensley: “in talking to DOC, they didn’t think we should have Mark Carey present on the EBP checklist at the Annual Meeting because they will be changing some of what they currently do to incorporate the new requirements… We asked him to change the session to CQI and coaching to be more generally applicable to what evidence says on continuous quality improvement, so they can prepare that way.” A limited number of counties applied for APPA scholarships. Linda will follow-up with IJC for an update. Dates for the PO regionals meetings are not yet set.Election

No applications have been received for the Knepple Scholarship.
Legislation
Linda - no updates. JRAC: Legislative subcommittee met via conference call. There is still confusion regarding the law on consecutive cases. The big question is regarding the word “committing”. The recommendation from the group is to clarify the language which will be taken back to JRAC. Discussion. The next JRAC committee meeting is April 14 and open to the public.
Old Business
Indiana Pretrial Release Project – no updates Indiana Evidence Based Decision making (EBDM) Initiative. Next meeting of the State Team is April 18, 2016. Indiana’s current technical assistance grant from NIC ends this June. Indiana is applying for a Phase VI EBDM grant. During Phase VI, selected state and local jurisdictions will receive tailored technical assistance from NIC as they implement their change strategies to achieve risk and harm reduction goals. New Business
2016 PO Annual Meeting update: - Mark Carey topic has been changed (see entry under PO Advisory Board). The Indiana Public Defender Council Smart On Juvenile Justice: Access to Justice Indiana State Planning Grant – Linda and Lakisha were invited to attend the Juvenile Defense Stakeholder Meeting on march 11 on behalf of POPAI. There will be an additional planning meeting on May 20 (Lakisha will attend).
