PENDLETON, Ind. (WPTA) – GRAMMY Award-winning artist Jelly Roll took time before his Indianapolis show Thursday to visit with teens and inmates at IDOC Pendleton facilities, sharing words of hope and encouragement.
The Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) shared about his visit on Facebook, saying he visited the IDOC Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility and the IDOC Pendleton Correctional Facility before his show at the Grainbridge Fieldhouse Thursday night.
Jelly Roll has been known to visit with inmates at detention centers across the nation, sharing his own experience of incarceration and struggles with addiction.
“He shared his powerful story of resilience, offering words of encouragement and hope. His message continues to inspire, showing that no matter the past, the future is full of possibilities,” an IDOC spokesperson shared on Facebook.
In the post, they also thanked the rap-country artist for taking the time to connect with the Hoosier community.
