Any court official whose duties include actions that could make someone angry — the possibilities range from imposition of a small fine to a lengthy prison term — must at times ponder whether they could one day became a target of retaliation.

That being the case, a report of a local judge being shot at has to be taken very seriously. Even, if as was the case last Thursday, the alleged assailant is a 13-year-old boy armed with a BB gun.
