An Indiana State Bar Association online program geared toward newly admitted attorneys is hoping to prepare and equip new lawyers on how to begin their legal careers in the midst of uncertain times posed by COVID-19.

New lawyers are encouraged to learn about navigating the challenges of beginning a legal career during a pandemic and coping with the stress of becoming a new attorney in a four-part series offered by the ISBA and the Indiana Supreme Court’s Judges & Lawyers Assistance Program.

The program, “2020 Vision Going Forward: How to See Yourself Through This,” began on May 15 and is set to take place every other Friday, offering perspectives from a variety of legal professionals. Participants will also focus on topics including networking and professional development for new lawyers and opportunities to be matched with a mentor, among others.

Event speakers include Indiana Supreme Court Justice Steven David, JLAP deputy director Loretta Oleksy and executive director Terry Harrell, and Catheryne Pully of the ISBA.

Indiana Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush will also participate in the series alongside ISBA president Leslie Craig Henderzahs and Beau Zoeller, Young Lawyers Section Chair.

Additional participants will include attorneys who have successfully navigated becoming lawyers at the brink of the Great Recession and attorneys practicing in both traditional and nontraditional legal roles.

Those interested in participating in the free session may register online. Future sessions will be held on May 29, June 12 and June 26.
