Dear POPAI Members:

I serve as the probation representative on the Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council (JRAC).  At JRAC’s September 25th meeting, several packets of written materials were distributed to members.

These written materials are now posted on the POPAI website in the MEMBERS ONLY area of our website under “POPAI Legislative Updates”. (Requires log in first, here)

The materials you will find in the MEMBERS ONLY area include:

  1. Community Corrections grant requests for State Fiscal Year 2015-2016 (i.e., expansion grants) listed by program/county with dollar amounts;
  2. Proposed DRAFT of the Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council’s Annual Report’;
  3. Department of Correction (DOC) population report of D felony and Level 6 commitments by county; and
  4. Packet of information re: the new Department of Mental Health and Addictions (DMHA) treatment voucher system to be known as “Recovery Works.”  The packet includes descriptions of various services to be provided, who may claim for services, services exclusions, and DMHA reimbursement rates for treatment/service providers.

The JRAC agreed that the DOC and Indiana Judicial Center (IJC) staff would read all 60 of the Community Corrections grants and would rate them via a scoring matrix.  The JRAC will receive the DOC/IJC recommendations.

The JRAC meeting where the grants will be discussed will be open to the public.  Tuesday October 13th 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at the IJC.

The JRAC agreed that all applicants should get written grant feedback ASAP after October 13th.

The State Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Community Corrections grants will be due “at the end of January,” exact date to be determined.

Let me know if you have questions.

Good luck to all applicants!

Linda Brady, POPAI President
