The Community Corrections Advisory Board voted Tuesday afternoon to promote Megan Durlauf to Dubois County Community Corrections Assistant Director after she was recommended by a hiring committee and director William Wells.

Wells called her “tremendously qualified” for the position and said they were lucky to have her in the department.

Durlauf has been with Dubois County Community Corrections since 2010 and has served as a group facilitator for the past five years. She holds a degree from Indiana University in psychology with graduate work in counseling from Western Kentucky.

Corrections staff performed a thorough search for an assistant director with applications for the position coming from as far away as Texas.

“We conducted a thorough search for the best assistant director we could find,” Director William Wells said in a press release. “In the end, we found what we suspected from the very beginning — that there were no better candidates than those already working at Dubois County Community Corrections.”

Over recent decades, Corrections has developed into its own highly specialized career field. Wells went on to say that Durlauf is a great example of a true professional in the corrections field, one who understands how much impact our programming and services can have on a whole community by working with the individuals entrusted to the facility by the courts.

With Durlauf’s promotion, the facility has an opening in the group facilitator area.

Wells also reported that collections of user fees is at its highest level in five years; 90 percent.
