Clark County Probation recently held its first staff retreat for the probation officers and probation admin staff. The retreat was held at Wooded Glen Retreat and Conference Center in Henryville, Indiana.
The day was broken up into conference time and team building activities. In the morning conference session the topics included a breakdown on caseload statistics, the future of Clark County Probation, brainstorming, and a focus on the importance of everyone’s job in community safety and probationers’ personal restoration.
One of the afternoon team building exercises was a “Low Ropes Course”. The participants were broken up into teams and were instructed to work together to traverse a series of steel cables and beams. “Through these exercises, we were forced to work together as a team. It gives a greater sense of self-worth to be a part of something bigger than yourself.” said PO Josh Seybold. “I thought the retreat was amazing. It left me with a new appreciation of all my co-workers.”
The director of Clark County Family Drug Treatment Court, Iris Rubadue, summed up the day saying, “The retreat at Wooded Glen was absolutely sensational! The facility was beautiful, the activities that were planned were fun, and the information discussed was helpful. I could not think of a better way to spend a day with my co-workers.”
